New rules in the field of Danish Education

Who is covered by the voucher system?
If you are a worker, an au pair, a spouse or a student, you are entitled to Danish Education for up to 3.5 years (42 months) within a 5-year education period from the date you are referred to Danish Education.

Each module costs 2000 kr. per module - the rest is paid by the municipality. You can’t start before you have paid the fee.

If you are a foreigner in Denmark following family reunification with a Danish citizen or a refugee you are entitled to free Danish tuition for up to 5 years.

The voucher system
As you are covered by a voucher system you have a total of 6 vouchers corresponding to the 6 modules in the Danish Education system. As a course student, you will be placed on the module that corresponds to your linguistic level. If you are a beginner, you will be placed on module 1 and you will be awarded 6 vouchers. If you are placed on module 2, you will be awarded 5 vouchers, etc.

ATTENTION!

  • The voucher will be activated, when you are assigned to a Danish Education and placed in a module – whether or not you attend the class.

  • Once you have passed a module test, you have exhausted the current voucher. If you still have time left on the current voucher you can’t transfer the remaining time to the next voucher.

  • If you don’t pass the module test within the months set for the module, you will have to activate the next voucher. You have then lost a voucher to the next module, and therefore do not have enough vouchers to complete the entire Danish Education. In that case, you have the possibility of paying for the remaining vouchers.

  • When a voucher expires, the next voucher is activated, unless you have notified the language center that you want to take a break. However, your 5-year education period still counts.

  • Breaks: If you need a break due to holidays, maternity leave etc., please have in mind that it is best to take a break between two modules, for instance when you have passed a module test. You should always remember to inform HTS/Høje-Taastrup Sprogcenter, if you’re intending to take a break between modules, so that the next voucher won’t be activated immediately. If you decide to take a break in the middle of a module, you should be aware of your remaining time, since the voucher cannot be put on a break, and it will therefore remain activated during your break.

Security deposit
If you are in Denmark to study or work, you will be charged a security deposit of 1250 kr. Which will be returned to you when you finish your module/education.
